Isis Financial Planners, independent financial advisers, Chartered Financial Planners and members of STEP work closely with many solicitors for the mutual benefit of our clients.

Here is how we can work together.

As a solicitor working in private client services, you must often see clients who would benefit from independent financial advice. If you do not have an in-house adviser, you may feel unable to recommend anyone. The financial advice sector can be a minefield. Does ‘independent' always mean independent? What do the different qualifications mean? Will my client be well looked after?

Isis Financial Planners are independent financial advisers (IFA) specialising in wealth management services and with two qualified STEP members who can help support solicitors / lawyers in working with your clients.

Isis Financial Planners was founded in 2002. We are a small company and we have three adviser/directors. While we offer a wide range of services, we specialise in investments, pensions, trusts and tax planning. We each hold the diploma of the Personal Finance Society. In addition, two of us are members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners - this is an unusual combination of skills for financial advisers. As well as being a Chartered Tax Adviser, Maggie Fleming also serves on one of the sub-committees of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. We are committed to continuously improving our skills and technical knowledge in order to provide a better service to our clients.

We prefer to build a lifetime relationship with our clients and their families rather than simply a transaction-based one, although we can, of course, provide the latter. Because we are independent, we offer the choice of fees or commission, or a combination of the two, if the client prefers this and it is appropriate.

The types of work we can help you and your clients with include the following:

  • Advising trustees on suitable investments when trusts are set up and conducting regular investment reviews;
  • Advising on suitable investments for clients who lack mental capacity;
  • Advising on trusts and arranging life insurance as part of an estate planning exercise; we work closely with solicitors who would draft or review the relevant trust documentation;
  • Helping beneficiaries with investment, pension and tax planning.

As the UK tax system grows ever more complicated, it is important that financial advisers have a detailed and up-to-date knowledge of its workings. However, many independent financial advisers (IFAs) have only a sketchy understanding of the tax system. With our combination of skills, we can ensure that, for example, a beneficiary's tax position is carefully considered when recommending investments.

Few IFAs offer our kind of integrated, holistic financial planning. Fewer still have professional qualifications in the tax, trust and estate fields. We believe that we are ideally placed to give your clients the service that they deserve.
